2002 Webmaster Marc Jones spoke exclusively to Gareth as he travelled north to sign a loan deal until the end of the season with former club Preston North End... "I had wanted to stay at Wimbledon and break back into the first team. Even though I had a good game in the reserves against Leicester this Monday that still, for some reason, looked unlikely. Three or four clubs had come in for me but I had turned them down. When Preston made an approach I decided to take them up on the offer. It made a big difference that they were a former club of mine." "The manager has until the end of the season to prove his worth, and hopefully I can help him. I'm not quite match fit yet - but I'm there or thereabouts and hope to be able to make an impression with my old club as soon as I get a chance."
