On the
mend .
Unfortunately
I have some bad news regarding my own injury.
After I had
the original scans 8 weeks ago and the small operation to clean out the
ankle joint my ankle was still causing me some discomfort. Clinks decided
we needed to see a top ankle specialist in Oxford. He relooked at some
new scans and the old ones and spotted the problem immediately. Apparently,
a piece of bone has broken away from the main ankle joint and is lodged
near my heel and where the fragment came away there is some ragged bone
which is causing all the pain.
It is not
a big operation but the ragged section needs smoothing out and the small
piece of broken bone needs removing. The op was done a few days ago (22nd
October) but it means I will be out for a further 6-8 weeks.
I can't believe
the luck I am having after the groin episode which fully recovered I pick
up a knock in training which has effectively cost me nearly 4 months.
I am utterly distraught with this situation.
I am trying
to pick out the positives, at least now someone has found the problem
and can rectify it easily ,but I still miss playing.
I've said
this before but prior to Wimbledon I never thought about injuries because
I was never injured. I played continuously for nearly 4 seasons without
missing a single game, friendlies, league, cups and testimonials.
Itching to
get back.
Gareth.
