Kendo on
his way back.
Great result
against West Brom, especially down to 10 men. I was listening to the game
on one of the national radio stations and they gave the final score as
0-0 which I thought was a great result away to the Baggies but when I
learnt it was 0-1 and we had 10 men for a good part of the game I knew
we were back on track and hopefully have had our little hiccup.
By all accounts
on Sunday (23rd) at the training ground we were the better team and had
the best chances, Hughesy and Andy Roberts had a great game and Kelvin
was as good as ever in goal. The best thing is that we have Kenny, Peter
and Damo very close to playing for the reserves and hopefully they'll
be knocking on the door of the first team very soon.
My own situation
has slightly improved but not as fast as I'd hoped, I had my left ankle
looked at by the club surgeon and he wanted to clean the ankle out thinking
there would be some debris from years of tackling in there, he said he
found bits of bone but nothing really significant that would be causing
major problems. In fact he said I had a good ankle, structure wise, and
had just bruised where the bones attach to each other, hopefully it won't
be much longer but I'm not setting targets anymore as I'm a bit gutted
not to be with Kendo and Pete training over at the bank. All I can do
is keep strengthening the muscles around my ankle and keep my fitness
at a high level ready for when I do return. Being my last year of contract
I'm desperate to get back and prove myself.
No knocks
to report from the weekend but Alan Kimble and Jermaine have been in to
have their backs loosened off, could be the long travelling on the coach
lately as much as anything.
Trond looks
like he'll be ready for selection this week, if he misses Tuesday then
he thinks he will be okay for Saturday.
Ards still
is struggling with ankle ligaments and could be anything between 2 and
4 weeks from now.
Rob Gier
is all set to train this week which is good news.
Blackers,
Kjetil, Andreas and Juppy are the other long termers with myself, so I'll
keep you updated on those players as they get closer to full fitness.
Nothing
more has been said to the players about MK and the proposed moving, it
seems to have gone a bit quiet, again I'll keep you updated on that situation
if anything breaks.
The fat tests
were done last week again and everyone has been keeping control of their
body fat, with only 2 people increasing and that was only by half a millimetre
so nothing really. Most people had lost some fat from the last time, and
the players with the least body fat included Juppy, Lionel and Patrick
with the lowest of all being Ansah Owusu.
Away from
football the band has had a photo shoot with 442 magazine which hopefully
will look okay! Trond has been asked to list his top 10 albums of all
time so we've been reminiscing about LP's we used to and still do have.
I have quite a few records from the 80's in my Mum's loft including some
rare Guns and Roses picture discs.
The piano
is coming on okay but I'm still struggling with the sharps and flats,
I hope that's as hard as it gets!
I don't
know if anyone has seen it, but I've been watching re runs of "the old
grey whistle test" on BBC2 and seen some amazing demos by bands before
they were famous. My favourite being Lynyrd Skynyrd's freebird, I thought
that was an awesome showing and it prompted me to go and buy the 30th
anniversary edition DVD of the "whistle test".
Here's to
the start of a good run now, with minimum injuries. The league's still
wide open and it's still very early in the season. We still have every
chance.
Gareth.
