Fact and fiction.

Sorry for the delay, plenty of things have been going on- great results,an illness to the gaffer and loads of rumours about players at the club, some fact some fiction and some still up in the air.

On a personal front, I've been back training with the first team and reserves but have yet to start a game for either since I missed a couple of weeks training with a kick to my heel. I'm hoping to get a start with the reserves up at Filbert Street on Monday (march 25) night. The ressies have had a couple of good wins lately and some of the younger players namely Adam Nowland, have worked their way into the first team squad. The reserves are uncertain which league they will be in next season, the rules state that if a club has dropped out of the Premier League then the reserves have 2 years to play in the reserve Premier league then they must drop down to the Nationwide reserve league, sounds a bit complicated but the rules may be changed next year and our reserve side may keep Premier League status we'll have to wait and see.

That would be irrelevant though if the first team can keep on this great run and make the play-offs. We are well in reach of them and Sheff Utd beating Millwall did us the world of good on Tuesday night. We have the most favourable run in out of all the clubs up there but we still need the other teams to lose- I think it's going to go right to the wire.

One person we will miss in the next few games though is Dave Connolly who has hit some great form in the last few games, unfortunately though his sending off will cost us dear and we will be without him for 4 games, a real blow. Adam Nowland may get his chance sooner than he thought but he's been in an incident too, a car crash near his Surrey home. He trained on Tuesday and looked like he'd been beaten up. Cuts and bruises all over his face and about 6 butterfly stitches, probably not the last scars he'll get but hopefully not too many more outside of football.

Other injuries at the moment include Hakan who is still feeling his groin and Hughsie who is still sore around the ankle, he tried it on Tuesday in training but looked below par and admitted he was carrying it the whole time. Shipps is back though and could be a straight replacement for Dave on Saturday against Grimsby.

The most recent injury picked up is the gaffer, he was rushed to hospital with appendix problems on Saturday and it is quite serious by all accounts, hopefully he'll make a full recovery as quick as possible. But for now Stuart Murdoch has taken over the managerial hotseat while the gaffer is away and has a 100% record so far.

Now to these rumours, firstly myself- I was linked with a loan move to Bristol City a few weeks ago and this was true but I felt I could still break back into the team here and so turned them down. The next one was a story about QPR on Sunday, apparently I have turned them down. All I can say is this is news to me- I haven't heard anything from QPR.

Another story recently linked Coops with West Ham - this was untrue, but he has been linked with West Brom. I think Wimbledon accepted an offer for him but Coops says he's staying put. Lionel seems to be linked with another club every week so it's difficult to say what is rubbish or not and finally Kenny was rumoured to be going to Millwall on loan. I asked Kenny about this and he gave me a look as if to say "Gareth I think you know the answer to that without me saying anything" so I'll take that as Kenny will be staying.

I've received quite a few e-mail's from people wishing me all the best since the news that I will more than likely be going on a free in the summer. I have a great bond with all the supporters and thank everyone for all their support throughout my time here, you never know I could yet play a big part in this season, football is a funny game. (sorry for the cliché).

Anyway here's a mention to all who mailed me,
Thanks to: Darren Leach, Niall from Y&B, Julian Ehrhardt, Dan, Nick Lehmann, Steve Crowhurst, Andy Minas, Trevor Warner, George Hackforth-Jones, Chris Newman, M.T. & A.S. from the Holmesdale Road stand, Helen Young, Nick Palmowski, James Bruce, Iain Halstead, Tudor Jennings, Gareth (cool name) Bayon, Matt, Jamie Weir, Mark Andrews, Michael, Antony Butler, Lee Finch, Gerald Morgan, Kevin Rye, John Perrie and Dave Challinor who also enclosed a scan of his unborn baby, hope everything went ok Dave. Sorry if I missed anyone or got any spellings wrong.

Finally here's a picture of me and the amazing Disabled Football team here at Wimbledon, the game was earlier this season and I've only just been sent the photo. I was proud to be in this picture and wish everyone involved in that game all the best.

Gareth.
