Next season will be my season.

Thought the end of season would mean a break for me but I seem to have loads on all the time, I'll get to that but first reflection on Sunday...

I was a bit disappointed to be on the bench for the last game of the season and only get 5 minutes but I still think next season will be my season. The game had few chances in it and the pitch looked as bad as always, hopefully it'll be looking better next year after the break, but for how long?

I was chuffed Willo won player of the year because he really is a team player who would die for the cause and always give 100% no matter what. Apparently he only beat Kelvin by a few votes so well done to both of them, they both had a great season. The gaffer thanked us for a good season but everyone is looking forward to getting stuck in next term and getting back to where we belong. The fans were very vocal and Norwich impressed me with there following on the last day with nothing to play for. I tried to get round and applaud everyone at Selhurst last Sunday but we were rushed off the pitch a bit because the Chairman was coming out, so if I missed you on Sunday then a big THANKYOU for all the support at home this year, keep it up and the best is yet to come, from both myself and the team. Sunday night most of the team went out for a drink together and it was good to see more or less everyone out.

Monday was an easy day for me with friends down from Blackburn. Looking at the league table I found out just how close our rivals had come to the drop, it'll be interesting next year to see how they fair.

Tuesday was my day to go and see the manager, we all had days and times to go and see Terry just for a general chat about the season and what he's looking for next year. After Terry I had a meeting with Jon Goodman and Stuart Robson who gave each of us a program through the summer, to keep us ticking over and eating right so we come back fit enough to have a tough pre-season and be ready for the season ahead. The general idea is that we have two weeks solid rest then start gentle jogging and exercises to let our bodies know we haven't totally stopped for good!

Wednesday night I was down to play in a testimonial for Martin Foyle one of my ex team mates at Port Vale, now a coach. Robbie Williams was playing and some old faces from the Vale I haven't seen for ages. I stayed at Allen Tankard's on Tuesday night, a good friend of mine, and played 30 mins last night in the game. There was a great crowd and I got a good reception. The only down side was driving home last night getting in at 2.00am!

Thursday, today, is my birthday (not saying how old) so I'm of out for a nice meal tonight and getting my feet up for the rest of the week, having some great weather at last so I'm gonna enjoy it while its here. Being the summer I'll try and keep the updates as interesting as possible but they'll probably read a bit shorter. (ed's note - don't worry we'll be doing some other stuff to make up for it!)

Enjoy the break everyone, but I bet you'll all be like me and missing the great game in another week or so - roll on August eh!

Gareth.
