31 August 2002 - David Morton asks:
In the current climate I suppose we can't criticise anyone for accepting a contract. However, when Kenny and Neal left we thought that was the last of our heroes out of the door. We really didn't expect you to sign again. You were such a fans' favourite. I hope that as soon as a club with any dignity (e.g. PNE or Lincoln) make a bid for you then you will sign for them. Come along to AFC and see the heart of Wimbledon....

"I am glad you've been truthful on this matter Dave so I will be with the answer, Wimbledon offered me a years contract at a very much reduced wage, no other club offered me a solid deal with the exception of PNE who offered me an 8 week deal. I had no security anywhere and needed to start playing again. I spoke to the PFA and they were not sure whether I would have to sign before the transfer window ie.31st August. I had to make a decision. My decision was to sign for Wimbledon for 1 year and get my name back on the map so to speak.

As for the lack of support we get, I will miss it tremendously, I am a player that thrives off that support and am gutted with the current situation. I hope AFC do really well and climb the leagues but I am a professional and have to get on with my job which is playing 100% for whichever team I am at. Please remember my performances in a good light and I do not begrudge one fan for what has happened.

Cheers - Gareth."

31 August 2002 - Sarah asks:
I'm a huge Blackburn Rovers fan living in Blackburn and was wondering if you have a favourite Blackburn Rovers player seeing you still support them? (I hope you do well this season because I've always watched you play for different clubs because I used to live next door to your Aunty and she told me all about you!).

"Hi Sarah,
I still follow the Rovers when I can and my favourite player of all time was Simon Garner, my favourite one now is difficult but it's probably Damien Duff because he's a winger too! I would have loved to have played for them at some stage in my career but time is running out now. You never know though! My Auntie is now in Mellor but I'll mention you to her. Thanks for the mail."

31 August 2002 - Hash Ahmed asks:
1) What do you see as the real Wimbledon, Wimbledon FC or AFC Wimbledon?
2) What attraction did you see in re-signing for Franchise FC?
3) What is your opinion on Charles Koppels plan to kill Wimbledon FC by taking it to Milton Keynes?

"1) Difficult one to answer so I'm gonna stay silent on this one. I know where the real fans are though.

2) I had to because I had no solid offers anywhere else and at the time didn't know if this transfer window would affect me. I still have a mortgage to pay and still have a massive love for the game. It's going to be hard now this year but I'll have to be ultra professional and try to concentrate on my own game. I have had some bad injuries as you know in the last 3 years so now I need to get my name back involved with football.
3) I have accepted that I may have to play in milton Keynes in the near future so have to be professional about it. Sorry I couldn't help more."

31 August 2002 - Stan's grandson asks:
Gareth, it's kit man Stan's grandson here, did you enjoy your time at the Vale and if you did, what was your favourite moment? Also, what do you think of Billy bell-end?

"Hi again mate, my favourite moment at Vale, that's a tough one! Scoring a penalty against Seaman in the FA cup felt great, as did staying up the season we beat Huddersfield away. As for Mr Bell I think his biggest mistake ever was sacking John Rudge."
